WELCOME TO SWANSEA GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE
WAYS TO PLAY
Availability may be limited.
Recreational teams allow girls to build, develop, and refine fundamental softball skills and develop friendships. Recreation teams exist for each division, based on interest and availability. Our coaches are volunteers who aim to teach the athletes on the team while creating a fun and safe environment for play. During the season, expect to play softball 2-4 times per week at a time determined by the coaches. Your registration fee supports the maintenance of our facilities and a jersey for your player(s).
Fall Ball is recreational play during the Fall season. Availability for Fall Ball is based on interest and coach availability. Your registration fee allows for the maintenance of our facilities and a jersey.
Various clinics may be scheduled based on need and interest throughout the year. Winter clinic is designed for all players and occurs at an indoor facility from January - April. Pitching and catching clinics are also available at times to support girls who want to learn these challenging (but rewarding!) positions.
The fee for clinics compensates specialty coaches and/or pays for the use of indoor facilities.
Travel teams are available for experienced athletes who are committed and invested in more competitive play. All travel teams are selected in tryouts. Statistics are kept and USA Softball rules are followed. While travel teams may play year-round, the core of travel ball depends upon weekend-long tournaments across the area. Some tournaments could require overnight stays. Expect busy summer weekends as well as spring practices if your daughter plays travel softball. The cost for travel is considerably more than rec ball, but will include entry into tournaments, uniforms, additional supplies for the team, and the maintenance of our facilities.
Register on the USA Softball site to request a background check to begin the volunteer process here or access the USA Softball site directly. All volunteers must complete the background check yearly as they are only good for one calendar year.
